To Live a Life of Kindness
Ruled by values
“What this world needs is a new kind of army – the army of the kind.” -Cleveland Amory
Lately, I’ve been watching videos were spontaneous acts of kindness are the stars of the show. Seeing people helping people or animals is something that warms our heart, makes us happy and restores our faith in humanity, if we ever lost it or are about to lose it. Yes, it leaves in us a feeling of relief knowing that there is still hope for the world.
What makes me sad is the fact that all these acts of kindness are shown as an exception and that’s why we celebrate them and get amazed when we meet people that really care for others… but why? Why it is an exception to live a life ruled by values like kindness? I’ve always believed that it is easier to do good to others, to do the right thing but I guess that we tend to live focused on our own worries and existence that some times we get so consumed with our own stuff that we forget there are other human beings around us.
Values can be taught and learned but we just have to keep our mind open. Some of us are lucky enough to have parents, teachers, friends, even total strangers that teach us by example so we can distinguish between right and wrong.
We don’t need to be celebrities to make an impact on someone else’s life and it’s not about taking in our own little hands the responsibility of all the people that live in this world… it’s about our own little world, the one we can control. It’s about caring for the people we are in contact with, even if we only share 5 seconds with someone and we never see each other again.
A little list of values that can for sure make this world a better place…
Help mankind by letting values survive, live by example, be their voice and pass them on.
“How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in your life you will have been all of these.” – George Washington Carver
