Two Wings to Fly – Rumi (Mash-up)
I love this video. It makes me happy. Fills me with wonder. I wanted to share “Fragments of Iceland” with you. Beautiful sheep. Birds. Waterfalls. Rainbows. Clouds in stop motion. Water. Birds. Emotion. All that works for me! May it inspire you too.
The pictures of the rainbows are dedicated to my friend Karyn.
The pictures of the girl flying are dedicated to my friend Julie.
The paintings are dedicated to my artist friend Michael.
The emotion of it is dedicated to all my friends. Thank you.
the big dog-
Winston by name-
into the leaves..
beside the white
and dragged out,
into plain sight,
it was dead.
the beautiful flower-like head,
breaking it and
breaking it off and
He, too, if you’re willing
had a face
like a flower; and then the red sun
which had been raising all the while anyway,
clear of the trees and dropped its wild, clawed light
Our bodies break and are broken open. The wild light of life now escapes, helping us face that we are all flowers – dead child, scavenger, killer, appalled watcher, you, me.
What have you seen in life that is disgusting, that you wish wasn’t there or happening?
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.
Two Wings to Fly
Love’s secret is always lifting its head out from under the covers – “Here I am!”
Why do you stay in prison when the door is so wide open?
Wear gratitude like a cloak and it will feed every corner of your life.
Hear blessings dropping their blossoms around you.
Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere. They’re in each other all along.
In your light I learn how to love. In your beauty, how to make poems.
Be melting snow. Wash yourself of yourself.
God turns you from one feeling to another and teaches you by means of opposites,
so that you will have two wings to fly – not one.
