Bewilderment Melts Into Wine

I was wondering when I assembled this post ‘What if I just created a post without thinking about it, but by feeling it? What if instead of following a clear logic, I threw logic out the window and just enjoyed where spirit took me?’ That is what I am doing here. This post is just a creative collection of thoughts and writings to explore the creativity of the soull. I am simply having fun in this moment. Nothing more. And I hope that you have fun experiencing it. Don’t judge or analyze but just be in it. K?

Bewilderment Melts Into Wine

Listen to the story told by the reed,
of being separated.

“Since I was cut from the reedbed,
I have made this crying sound.

Anyone apart from someone he loves
understands what I say.

Anyone pulled from a source
longs to go back.

At any gathering I am there,
mingling in the laughing and grieving,

a friend to each, but few
will hear the secrets hidden

within the notes. No ears for that.
Body flowing out of spirit,

spirit up from body: no concealing
that mixing. But it’s not given us

to see the soul. The reed flute
is fire, not wind. Be that empty.”

Hear the love fire tangled
in the reed notes, as bewilderment

melts into wine. The reed is a friend
to all who want the fabric torn

and drawn away. The reed is hurt
and salve combining. Intimacy

and longing for intimacy, one
song. A disastrous surrender

and a fine love, together. The one
who secretly hears this is senseless.

A tongue has one customer, the ear.
A sugarcane flute has such effect

because it was able to make sugar
in the reedbed. The sound it makes

is for everyone. Days full of wanting,
let them go by without worrying

that they do. Stay where you are
inside such a pure, hollow note.

Every thirst gets satisfied except
that of these fish, the mystics,

who swim a vast ocean of grace
still somehow longing for it!

No one lives in that without
being nourished every day.

But if someone doesn’t want to hear
the song of the reed flute,

it’s best to cut conversation
short, say good-bye, and leave.

“The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds.”

Michael P. Burke is a person who awakens my soul, plants a fire in my heart, and brings peace to my mind, not because he is a master poet, a brilliant painter, or famous celebrity, but because he is a fine human. Just a regular guy touching people’s hearts in the most positive way everyday through his kindness and creativity. I call that an extraordinary human. You can call it anything you want. But this guy just lifts my spirit through his tireless kindness to other humans. Isn’t that the ultimate in life after all?

Can you maintain an intense conscious presence while just being in this moment?

“The first thing to remember is this. As long as you make an identity for yourself out of your pain, you cannot become free of it. As long as a part of your sense of self is invested in your emotional pain you will unconsciously resist or sabotage every attempt to heal that pain. Why? The pain has become an essential part of you. This is an unconscious process. And the only way to overcome it is to make it conscious.”

Cat Letter to Human

Dear human…I am writing this letter in hopes of easing recent tension between us, cultivate a deeper understanding of one another and move forward in maintaining a mutual beneficial relationship of co-operation.

I would first like to remind you of our PRE-DETERMINED ROLES given to us in this partnership.

For myself…I AM A CAT.
My job is to simply be a cat.
At my best or at my worst, I am always a cat…BY DEFAULT.
Any other contributions I make, in any form, wanted or not…are EXTRAS.
So, though I admit I can be trying at times, please try and remember…I HAVE MORE THAN HELD UP MY END OF THE BARGAIN…AND THEN SOME!

Your job is to provide food, shelter, a safe environment and a loving surrogate family life for the full duration of my life span AND to any possible offspring I may produce.
It is your job to provide all of these 24 hours, 7 days a week…in a healthy and humane fashion.

I don’t want you to think I don’t love you or appreciate you…nothing could be further from the truth. I try and express this to you daily with loving affection and even by occasionally putting on a show for you.
This is how I show my love and express my thanks to you and all that you do.

HOWEVER…recently, and in the past, you have become quite angry with me, who we have already established has filled their contractual obligations. You often complain for simply having to do your job. If I ride you a little hard sometimes, know that it is not personal, it just means that in that moment…YOUR NOT DOING YOUR JOB.

I want you to know, I bare no hard feelings toward you and have completely let go of any past transgressions and misunderstandings and am fully committed to continuing our relationship as per the agreed terms…towards mutual prosperity and happiness.

Sincerely…the one who just coughed up a hair ball in one of your bed time slippers.

– I dedicate this written musing to my lovely feline boys…Tigger and Boo

The Promise

When pain arrives side by side with your love
I promise not to flee
When you ask me for my life
I promise not to fight

I am holding a cup in my hand
By God if you do not come
Till the end of time
I promise not to pour out the wine
Nor to drink a sip

Your bright face is my day
Your dark curls bring the night
If you do not let me near you
I promise not go to sleep…nor rise

Your magnificence has made me a wonder
Your charm has taught me the way of love
I am the progeny of Abraham
I’ll find my way through fire

Please, let me drink water from the jug
This love is not a short-lived fancy
It is the daily prayer, the year-after-year fast
I live it, like an act of worship, till the end of my life

But then, a tree
Blessed not with fruits of your bounty
Will be dry wood for fire
Even if it drinks the ocean

On the wings of the Friend, fly o my heart!
Fly and look upward
For high on the peak of presence
Earthlings like you will not be let in

Others praise God at the time of affliction
You stay awake day and night
Steady, watchful like the wheel of the firmament

Time to stop speaking of the Friend
Jealousy won’t let me scatter the perfume to the wind

~ Rumi

“Gravity directed by Oscar nominee Alfonso Cuaron, stars Oscar winners Sandra Bullock and George Clooney in a heart-pounding thriller that pulls you into the infinite and unforgiving realm of deep space. Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (Clooney). But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone.”

Dear Soul

“Dear soul, Love alone cuts argument short, for it alone comes to the rescue when you cry for help against disputes. Eloquence is dumbfounded by Love: it dares not wrangle; for the love fears that, if he answers back, the pearl of inner experience might fall out of his mouth.”

~ Rumi

One thing I’ve learned is that you can’t move on alone. You need someone to show you that behind all the clouds, the sun is still shining.

~ Ritu Ghatourey
“Being alone doesn’t mean you have to be sad and feel lonely most of the time. Instead, make that time as your precious time, to meditate, to evaluate yourself, to analyze what’s going on around you. To trace the path you wan to go, to figure out the things you want to do, and to improve your abilities and skills with your own. So, never be desperate when you are alone, but give it value and use it for yourself, to finalize what you really want.”

~ Janet Reolope

The Great Wagon

When I see your face, the stones start spinning!
You appear; all studying wanders.
I lose my place.

Water turns pearly.
Fire dies down and doesn’t destroy.

In your presence I don’t want what I thought
I wanted, those three little hanging lamps.

Inside your face the ancient manuscripts
Seem like rusty mirrors.

You breathe; new shapes appear,
and the music of a desire as widespread
as Spring begins to move
like a great wagon.
Drive slowly.
Some of us walking alongside
are lame!
