Dare to Dance the Tide

Dance! Dare to dance the tide. Dare to ride your wave of longing, freedom, and bliss. Create and dance!

Inspired by a post by my friend Michael Burke and his video That Dancing Guy.

when you’re broken open.
if you’ve torn the bandage off.
Dance in the middle of the fighting.
Dance in your blood.
Dance when you’re perfectly free.”

― Rumi

Too many times we stand aside
And let the waters slip away
‘Til what we put off ’till tomorrow
Has now become today
So Don’t you sit upon your shoreline
And say you’re satisfied
Choose to chance the rapids
And dare to dance the tide

 My take:

Too many time I stand back and am afraid to dance my own unique dance. Afraid what people will think. Afraid that my dance won’t mean anything. Afriad to be me. Not today. Today I am determined to dance. Just dance. Let myself be free to be me. Today I take a stand and just dance. Not because it makes sense. Just because it is me! Yaay!

Below are pictures of the place I caught and rode my biggest wave as a surfer – Huntington Beach California.  12 foot wave. Perfect tube. I screamed with delight. That makes me happy. That makes me dance.

Please leave comments about your dance. What makes you happy?

  1. I dance to the rhythm of life… because I was born to be alive 🙂

    • Beautiful! 🙂 Well put. I dance with happiness because of the online community of friends we are building. It is sweet. 🙂

  2. Love That Dancing Guy! Not caring who was watching. May I become that free! To me that’s what Rumi is saying. “Be with it. Be with everything you create or that life serves up. Celebrate it all. It’s ALL life. And it’s ALL GOOD. So just dance! Experience it NOW and show that you’re ALIVE! “. Beautiful!

    • This is a fabulous comment!!! Please make this into a blog post for our readers. It is deep and meaningful. It could help people. Love your comment. Experience it NOW. Yes! Thank you Michele!!! 🙂 🙂

    • Fantastic!!

      so true… It’s all life! Now and one day at time!

      • “One day at a time to be patient and strong,
        To be calm under trial and sweet under wrong;
        Then its toiling shall pass and its sorrow shall cease;
        It shall darken and die, and the night shall bring peace.”

        I saw this and thought of your reply, thanks for all your enthusiasm and help. You’re the best Julie! 🙂
