Some Kiss We Want
Some Kiss We Want
‘Your task is not to seek for love,
but merely to seek and find all the barriers
within yourself that you have built against it.’
About the Short Film
I combined pictures I purchased the copyrights to in a sensual way. The sand represents the lover’s body. The desire to be kissed. When this line is read – ” … the moon to come and press its face against mine.” I use the Lily to represent a woman’s face. I cross-faded the moon over the lily to give the impression of the moon pressed against a longing face. Please remember to turn your volume up when you play the film. The movie looks best when you maximize the image on your screen.

Some Kiss We Want
There is some kiss we want with
our whole lives, the touch of
spirit on the body. Seawater
begs the pearl to break its shell.
And the lily, how passionately
it needs some wild darling! At
night, I open the window and ask
the moon to come and press its
face against mine. Breathe into
me. Close the language- door and
open the love window. The moon
won’t use the door, only the window.
Some Kiss We Want is one of Rumi’s most sensual poems. My new 2 minute short film above is a work of love. I dedicate the work to my sweetie – Michele. The short video is read by her. You can just feel her passion. She asked me not to call her a professional actress … but she has been paid to act in numerous plays. Has a fabulous singing voice. And has many acting credits to her name. She was the perfect pick to read this poem by Rumi.
Rumi’s works are written in Persian and his poetry remains one of the purest literary glories of Persia and the world. Passionate and Spiritual. There is no equal. This short film visually displays one of his most powerful poems – Some Kiss We Want.
Rumi is now one of the most widely read poets in America. Rumi was born on the Eastern shores of the Persian Empire on September 30, 1207, in the city of Balkh in what is now Afghanistan and finally settled in the town of Konya, in what is now Turkey.
Today three countries claim him as their national poet: Iran, Turkey and Afghanistan. However none of these countries as they are today actually existed back then. Iran was called the Persian Empire, a monarchy, and it was quite larger than it is today. It included all of today’s Iran and Afghanistan also parts of Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Iraq. Turkey had not yet formed then and Afghanistan was part of the Khorasan Province in the old Persian Empire.
Rumi’s life story is full of intrigue and high drama mixed with intense creative outbursts. Rumi was a charming, wealthy nobleman, a genius theologian and a brilliant but sober scholar, who in his late thirties met a wandering and wild holy man by the name of Shams. In Rumi’s own words, after meeting Shams he was transformed from a bookish, sober scholar to an impassioned seeker of the truth and love.
